Quilt With Us

I just noticed that I haven't blogged in awhile, but I have been busy.

This quilt was made for DH's gson who is getting married in just over a week.  He's a BIG University of Michigan fan and his bride to be is becoming one.  I had the top done in early Feb but had to wait for my favorite LA to have time to quilt it for me.  I got it back this past Saturday and had the binding and label on that same evening.  The back is UofM maize but it looks more like a buttercup yellow in the pics I took :(.

Then (as if I didn't have enough to do already), I decided to make a bedrunner for my DH's cousin and his wife as a hostess gift after they invited us to come visit while we're in Texas.  (The wedding is in Lafayette La and we're going to drive over to visit with my oldest DD and FFSIL (former favorite son-in-law) in the Dallas area - cousins are halfway between).   Here's the bedrunner -  I didn't notice til later that I put it on the bed backwards  OOPS!  LOL  oh well

Thanks Sheila :)    The bedrunner is a pattern I purchased from this site:  http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/Home-Decor/Texas-Bunkhouse-...   and I ordered the border fabric online from  http://www.creations-online.com/fabrics/quilt-across-texas-fabrics.htm

I drew and cut the M out of heavy cardboard and loaned it to my LA so that she could put the Ms on  the quilt.

I highly recommend my LA, BUT she's backlogged with quilt tops waiting to be quilted ( 60 some the last I heard).

You did a super job Sunshine and I am totally stealing both of these ideas expect my Aliumi is Florida State so once you've sent me your LA's information she can put FS in my blocks.  We have great friends who live in Texas and they would just LOVE that runner I'm totally making one for our next visit to Dallas it is perfect.

Here's a pic of the UofM quilt from the back..  here you can see how the LA placed a M in the printed part of the blocks at my request and then did the feathers in the solid white and blue areas ( I asked her to somehow make it a little more feminine ).

Hi Sunshine, you have been busy!  That's quite the pattern on the Michigan quilt, I'm sure they will love it.  The bed runner is nice too, and the cat doesn't mind if it's on backwards, LOL.  It is good to see you on here.

Very nice Sunshine.  Making a bed runner for a gift is a great idea as well.

LOL Pam   you're welcome :) ( I think)   I'd send you the leftover UofM fabric, but think I'm going to use it to make his other gson a similar one for Christmas :)

Great wedding quilt, Sunshine.  I've been mentally trying to break it down into blocks, thinking how did she do that?  :)   The quilting on it is wonderful as well.  Thoughtful hostess gift.  Always love seeing your creations.
