Elaine, that little preemie hat is so cute. You can hardly imagine a baby's little head that small eh?

My granddaughter was a premie and we still have the hats she was given. Such a blessing for all who recieve these gifts. She is now 13 and very tall...size 9 foot.....

When I checked with the preemie unit in our local hospital they said preemie heads are the same size as a regular orange and a full term baby is the size of a grapefruit
Maybe that will help. Their heads are really tiny. My oldest weighed 4 lbs 7.5 ounces. Had to burp him with him sitting on my knee and holding his head under his chin - there wasn't enough body to hold on to and burp if he was on my shoulder. That was the days of cloth diapers and diaper pins. He always looked like if you held him by his armpits the diaper would fall off lol . Now he is 35 and weighs 200 pounds.

ha...I don't think I'd want my daughter put back...they were all 7 lbs or less and not they're all grown up...OW!

a chatfriend of mine's baby gd was born weighing less than 2 lbs last fall... so hard to imagine (she was up to 8 lbs by Christmas). I always said that if any babies were born weighing less than 7 lbs, they weren't done yet and should be put back lol.

It's amazing, isn't it?! My daughter is knitting preemie baby hats for a Girl Scout project. I'm just awed by the tiny size. Makes me so grateful for my full-term healthy babies.
