Quilt With Us

My granddaughter loves to come and play in my sewing room.  She'd always grab the drawers of threads, and while I'm on the sewing machine I could hear her playing with the spools of threads as children in a playground.  She also loves her tiny princess dolls, and one day she asked to use my camera.  She wasn't disturbing me so I let her play to her heart's content.  I heard the camera clicking and I asked her what she was taking pictures of;  "The Princesses are having their ball, and the children were invited" she answered.

Not sure how she got a photo of herself, but here is her close-up

She got most of the threads placed back in their proper drawers when she was done.

Carol - Amelia used to unwind the spools, so I taped the ends on those that don't have the groove to slip the thread's end to.  I have the threads sorted in each drawer - polyester, cotton and quilting, but she decided that they went better by color, then another time she re-arranged them by size.  I have kept the Connecting Threads in a different box, and same with the embroidery threads, so they're safely out her reach (for now).

Really cute!  At least she didn't feel inclined to unwind some of those spools!

What a great imagination she has!  I hope she continues to have a love of thread, etc.

Thanks for sharing! What a wonderful memory. We can still do this if we can tolerate the inevitable ridicule. I have a doll that I still make clothes for. My granddaughter brings her dolls and we play together. I am 71. My husband thinks I am looney and doesn't mind telling me. I don't care.

This is why I love teaching kindergarten. What a lovely memory for you.

So darn sweet!  Little kids have imaginations that I could only wish for now.  Real life is too stifling.  Keep her young and sweet.

What fun! I, too, love seeing the imagination she used. She's a keeper!

How cute.  I'm glad to see a little child use their imagination.  Its becoming a lost art with all the electronic devices out there to play with.  She is a cutie.
