Many of you have noticed the increase of spam in the past week, and some particularly unsavory stuff this weekend. I'm so sorry! I've increased the new member security level yet again, but unfortunately that means brand new people have to jump through even more security hoops to join. I've found this past week's spammers were particularly aggressive and not computer generated (or they wouldn't be able to get past our security points).
Some of you actually received an email from "Rose", that was also inappropriate content. Please be assured that "Rose" has been deleted and blocked from this site, and that she never had your actual email address. Instead, she posted on your profile wall, and that comment was forwarded to you by QWU. I've tried to follow her path and delete her comments from members walls that notified me, but if you rec'd an email from her, you can go to your own profile wall and delete her comment by clicking the small X in the upper right corner of her post. Again, she did NOT have your actual email. What you saw was forwarded by QWU.
This is a good time to remind everyone that you should not include your home address or your actual email address on your profile page, unless it's your business and you want it known. Non members can browse this site and see any public information. Occasionally I'll see an email address in the section that says My website. Unless you want anyone in the world to have access to that information, you should remove it immediately. Please take a moment now to look at your own page and verify that all the info you see is what you are okay with anyone seeing.
Hopefully, most spammers will look around, see "just a bunch of quilters" and go away.
