Quilt With Us

I just finished my art quilt for the Cherrywood Fabrics Bob Ross Art Quilt Challenge. This was my husband's last gift to me and it is dedicated to him - representing his last season of life and traveling up the stairs to reach his eternal home.  It may not be chosen for the Challenge, and that is okay.  I really enjoyed doing it and creating it layer by layer.  I think he would be pleased with it.

Just about to the 5 month mark of his passing. The grieving is still there, but there are also many wonderful and happy moments. Being able to remain here at the Youth Ranch and work here, a place he loved, is such a gift to me.

Next project? I plan to make a purse with fabrics I bought on our last trip to the beach together, last November.

Beautiful!  I understood the message the moment I looked at the photo.  A true artist, you are.

BJ, you never cease to amaze us with your talents. Just stunning and so many memories it represents.

What a beautiful quilt! Creating is very good therapy, I think, and it's lovely that you can stay where you feel his presence and have so many happy memories.

Lovely quilt, BJ.  So full of meaning, and hopefully a bit healing as well.

I'm glad you are able to stay in your home for the time being.  I've heard it said that it is good to wait at least a year after the loss of a spouse before making any major life decisions.  I'm sure circumstances are different for everyone, but for this season of your life, I'm glad you are able to make this transition in your home.

Keep us posted.  I'd love to hear if it is accepted for the challenge.

BJ, what a wonderful last gift to you from Dennis and he would be so proud of you. It is so incredible, that I don't know how it couldn't be chosen for the Challenge. You do such an amazing job on all your art quilts. As time passes, you'll find that more wonderful memories will be there instead of your grieving and remembering will be such a good part of your life. I'm glad that you are able to stay at the Youth Ranch where you love to be and the memories are such wonderful ones.  I think of you and know that you'll be surrounded by people that will help you through this trying time. Hugs to you.

It is a wonderful tribute to your husband BJ.  How long will it be before you find out if it was accepted for the challenge?  I can't imagine why it wouldn't be chosen as it is beautiful.

Oh B.J this quilt is so beautiful representing your husbands last Season. He would be so proud of you. I'm glad you are able to stay and work at the Youth Ranch. It sounds like a lovely place to live and work.

Oh, wow, BJ!  That is really lovely.  When I got to the end of your post, I had tears in my eyes.

I can almost hear Bob Ross's soft voice saying "A happy leaf lives here." And your husband's voice agreeing.
