Quilt With Us

I'm so proud of myself! This is especially important to know if you're a member of my UFO Quilt Along! I posted several days ago that I finished a Christmas wall hanging (sorry no picture), but I just finished another UFO! Love having time off!

This is an appliqued (hand) table runner from (ahem) June 2002 APQ designed by Kim Diehl. I started it soon after the magazine came out. Last month I finished the hand applique, but even that was no easy feat since I had pinned the leaves in place and two had fallen off. I had to find matching fabric, recut the pieces and then begin the finishing of the hand work. THEN it needed to be machine quilted. I drove to my parents house this weekend, where I often go to get sewing done without much distraction (except for my dad :) ). I not only machine quilted it Friday night, but on Saturday, I machine sewed down the binding. Note there are 12 (count 'em 12) mitered corners and 6 inner corners. And binding is my least favorite part of quilting, so I'm extra proud of myself! Where was Judy when I needed her? She and I often swap tasks and binding is one of her favorite things!

The first pic makes it look small because I had to get far away to show it all, but once it's on my buffet, you can see how big it is.

Wahoo! Two UFO's done, now I can start something new!

Your table runner is gorgeous. I love the quilting - did you do this on your domestic or do you have a long-arm?

Simply beautiful job - and a nice time to add a bright bit of color to the house - especially during the dreary winter months ! OK - one down..... how many more to go???

Charlotte, that is too funny! I think we must become friends now! I'll send you a friend request in a minute. Send me a pic when you finish (soon, right?!/

Son-of-a-gun. I've got the same UFO I'm working on. I'd already made one at the time of the publication and had enough hearts left over to make a second. I had pieced the four patch blocks, and I thought I had the six stems. (So five stems the same and one the same exact color but slightly different print just adds charm, right? : D) You've inspired me to finish it.

Hi Royce
UFO = UnFinished Object :)
USO = UnStarted Object (I just learned that one from this group!

Sadly, these terms developed because we quilters tend to start and not finish our projects. See my Quilt Along for examples of how bad we are!
