Welcome....I'm glad you asked that questions.  When I first joined years ago, I wondered too but was afraid to ask.  Over the years I've worked out most of them but Prairie Quilter has some on her list that made me laugh.  I can't imagine writing something like....Let's go on a FART and get some more SABLE.

For those who have some 'UFO' almost done,  you can say you have a 'PHD' (project half-done) as well.

I agree with you Debra about other quilt sites. I was on one that was very clicky and I was ignored when I tried to chat.  I have been on QWU from the very beginning and have actually met some of my friends on here in person.  It's a wonderful, helpful site and I'm glad you found it.  Welcome aboard.

I copied this from Cheryl/NC's page.  It was something she posted several years ago, but I always refer to it for the abbreviations.

DH~Dear or Darling Husband/DD~Dear Daughter/DS~Dear Son and so on...(can also be Darn Husband depending on mood!)

Good to know.  This is the first quilt site that has been friendly to me and actually answers questions and concerns.  I love the vibe on here.  I feel like I fit right in.  And have been accepted.  That is special. Thanks to everyone for that!

Yes, quilters are a trusting bunch -- that is part of our charm -- but we're not stupid.  Many of the regulars who post have known and trusted each other for years.  Also, CT Admin is pretty protective of this site.  You will notice there is very little "spam" or aggressive soliciting.  We can tell when someone is a little bit "off."   You are right to be careful, but don't worry too much.  This is the only "social network" I even look at.  No one has ever contacted me personally.

Welcome Debra, lots of info on this site.  Good place to ask quilting questions or post photos for opinions.  I've haven't been on site long but 1 thing I notice is TMI - way too much personal info at times.  This is a social network and I think people forget that we're all just names at another computer. Just my opinion. Weird world, we need to be careful.

I read the 1st D as Dear too.
