Quilt With Us

Just checked my credit card bill and found $162.67 worth of fraudulent charges all dated early February, after CT notified us there was a problem with exposure of credit card numbers from one of their files for a specific time in January.  I had made a purchase during that time from CT (January 15) using my credit card.

Fortunately my credit card issuer will remove all those charges from my account and cancel the card.  Just wanted to remind you all to check your bills carefully!  The perp in my case had an addiction to the AppleITunes Store.

It's a mess to straighten out, but I'm not out any money, thank goodness!

hmmm, will have to check my CT ordering history dates. my debit card linked to my checking account was tapped into a few weeks ago. thank goodness was in-between pay days. they "charged" $33.57 6 times until they drained the account. too bad i didn't remember my weekend in Bangkok!!! My bank resolved it all. but what a pain.

One more thing....reduce your exposure to credit card theft by using only one or two credit cards for purchases.

Credit card companies will monitor your account for fraudulent activity, especially if your online purchases are 'out of the ordinary'. Call your cc companies and ask them to red flag any purchases that are out of the ordinary and to put an extra line of security defense on your credit card. They will work with you and keep you informed of any fraudulent activity in the future.

We had this happen right before we went on vacation.  Luckily I review our charges on line routinely and caught it as it was happening and called the credit card company.  I do not know if they tracked it down to the person or not, but they reversed the charges immediately and issued me new card before we left.  The credit company was great and we had no liability.

That is the one draw back to doing the Charge card...should be paper work,,with checks... and doing business the way we use to.  I know it is easier, but it sure is scary.!! When we went to North Carolina,,our Debit/credit card wouldn't work..OK,,now what,?? if we used it as a debit,,,it would work...so we called the bank and they said several banks,,like ours..(of course) Stopped the use of the Debit card in some of the states...and NC was one of them,,(Of Course) So we had to be very careful when we used it..What a hassle...!! and some of them didn't accept Debit...Go figure...

I think you and Pam are onto a great solution! It's so frustrating when these things happen.

Oooo, Pam, I like your idea!  I have a large flagstone patio that has moss and mold growing in the cracks.  A toothbrush would be about the right size!

Sorry to hear it.  Hope it never happens again.  :)

Sorry to hear this- so frustrating!  At least you found this and were able to have your credit card company  address the situation.

GRRR...too bad they can't catch these asses and make them do manual labor for the card holder. I have a few projects that they might think twice before using someone's card...like cleaning my septic tank with a toothbrush!
