Quilt With Us

I've been working on this quilt for my daughter on and off for a couple of weeks and finally have it down to one last border to add then to sandwich and quilt it. At the moment I can't even think of the name of the pattern (which came out of a magazine) and am too lazy to get up and go see. lol But I've renamed the quilt to "Dance in the Stars". I thought that more appropriate because she will be leaving for basic training in January and I want her to know that in my eyes and her's she can and will be someone. She started crying when I showed her pictures of it            (she's spending the summer with family) and I was on the phone with her when she say the photos. And of course I too started crying.

Usually I will stipple or large meander all my quilts on my Elna machine but with this one I have ordered a couple of stencils and I'm going to do her's different from everyone else's. The main stencil for the block is a double heart 12" and for the sashing I'm going to quilt in the ditch and for the borders I order a continuous heart. I do hope it comes out like I'm seeing it in my head!!! Will post pics when I have it all quilted, which will be a couple of weeks because I have 2 other quilts I have to start and finish by mid Sept... these are for ladies who are purchasing the quilts and both are wedding gifts.

Anyway below is a picture of Alexa's quilt top.. one is it without the finally border and the other is a pic with the last border just laid next to it.

What a wonderful tribute to your daughter, and a beautiful quilt besides!  Personally I like the look of the last border.   Hopefully you'll get more feedback.

The quilt is great! I like the extra black border around it, but it is wonderful either way. What a special gift you have made.

Love the hot pink and green fabric with black and white. The black and white border just gives it even more added interest. Good luck in getting all three quilts finished. Right now I am fighting with one quilt to get it lay smooth and the other quilt was doing great until I noticed I am 1/2" inch short on one edge. I could have used the 1/2" I left as a space at the other end!
