Quilt With Us

I just ordered a bunch of the CT Mastermind fabric to make my second son, the electronics engineering wizard, a queen-size quilt plus a couple of pillowcases!  I used the Kit Builder, which made it really easy.  I put together 4 different layouts, then emailed them to him and let him pick which one he wanted.  We got on Google Mail Chat and were able to instantly tweak some of the fabrics so it will be just the way he wants it.  Isn't modern technology wonderful?  The crazy part is because I already have so many projects either in-progress already or that are waiting for me to start.  I never seem to be able to finish anything before moving onto the next, new & exciting project.  But this time I've promised him to try and have it all done before he leaves for his summer job in Indiana on May 17; or, at the very latest, by Memorial Day because we will be traveling there to deliver some more of his stuff for him.  Wish me luck!

I do the same thing, when I see new projects online, or in magazines, or sometimes just some fabulous new fabric, I start a whole new thing, too. The starting phase is just so much fun!  That is really neat you were able to collaborate with your son on his quilt! I also have a short deadline, the end of May for a twin size quilt for my nephew's 8th grade grade graduation. I have about a third of the pieces cut is all :(    Plus, I am in block swaps that are due in June, so I really need to carve out some dedicated quilting time.

Good luck with your project!

I find that it helps me to have a deadline - at least part of the time anyway!  I 2nd Shannon's suggestion though!  Maybe we all need her to crack her whip over us!  <grin>

It's good to have a deadline, but wow... that's coming up fast.  Sounds like a fun quilt.  Happy sewing!

That's really cool! I love that you were able to get his 'a-ok' on the fabrics.

If you are crazy, I'm right there with you, sister. :)  I have the same "problem" you have - starting "the next" project is always so much fun.  Right now I'm in the finishing stages with some of my projects - mostly because of deadlines.  I have a graduation quilt that needs done before May 12th and a wedding quilt that was supposed to be done by June 23rd, but the bride (my daughter) has given me a December deadline extension.  I was able to whip up a baby quilt last week for a baby shower this afternoon. That was a fun break from the two big quilts I've been working on.  Instant gratification. :)  I agree with the others - you can do it!  Have fun!
