Quilt With Us

Hello friends,

It's time for another update. On Friday my husband transitioned from palliative care to hospice care. The second tumor (the one inoperable) was affected little, if  at all, with the chemo and radiation and is growing. He has chosen to not do more chemo, which I go along with. With not pursuing any other treatment (no treatment will cure, only possibly buy a little time) it was time for hospice. He was fine with going this route and is enjoying having a good hospital bed and a lift recliner. We'll keep him home hopefully the full time.

Our oldest son was here for Thanksgiving and we decorated the house for Christmas. Now to bake the goodies that DH wants this year. My goal is to have a wonderful and special/memorable Christmas as it will undoubtedly be the last with him here on this earth. Yes, it is sad, but I also feel so blessed to have this time with him. He could have been taken away suddenly, but instead God is giving us this time and I am enjoying it and wanting it to be the best it can be.

Miss Bailey and her family hope to be here just after Christmas for a few days. The first of November we did a getaway to the Oregon Coast where all four of our adult kids came and joined us for a portion of the trip. Another memorable time!

My Christmas Gift from DH came early.... I am going to do the  Cherrywood Challenge - Bob Ross. I'm so excited about it. I'll be using a picture our oldest son took for my inspiration and will be dedicating it to DH.

As I find time I'm doing some aprons for gifts this year. Some will be ready in time, some won't. Just the way it is this year.

Thank you to all who are praying for us. We are so comforted with prayers from all over the world. It is so amazing to have such inner peace when our world is crashing around us. God is good.

I hope you have a wonderful  and very blessed Christmas.

So sorry to hear this news. Hospice is the right choice. It will be good for both of you to spend the time talking not worrying about things others can control. I hope you get the wonderful Christmas with family. Know that we are a keyboard away to listen to your thoughts. Take care

Prayers for you and your family at this difficult time. You've shown such amazing strength and it will take you through all you need to go through. You have such a loving family and though it will be a tough time, you'll all make it together. The Cherrywood Challenge will be good for you and help you both. I admire your husbands attitude for no more chemo. He'll love those cookies. Love you, BJ, and hugs to all.

Hugs and prayers.  You and your DH both have such beautiful attitudes.  To find the positive through the tears takes strength and faith.  How wise to fill these days creating more wonderful memories.

So sorry to hear this, although expected. Your attitude and faith will keep you strong. I think the Cherrywood challenge is just what you need to do for yourself. It will benefit both of you.  Prayers for both of you.

Still remembering you, BJ.  It is a difficult journey.  Praying for your continued peace and for eyes to continue seeing the blessings amid the pain.  I'm glad you'll have some outlet for your creativity, and look forward to seeing the results of the Bob Ross class.  With love, Jan

Sending big hugs your way.  I would make the same decisions if I was in your situation.  Hospice provides such a wonderful service.
