It has been several years since I was in a small town quilt shop and this quilt top was in a row of other quilt tops that people needing money had sold to them. This top caught my eye and the sweet lady sold it to me for what she paid for it. I picked it up today from "Dot" the lady who does my quilting and I am so excited. She did a great job on it. This one is so heavy!! All I have left to do is bind it now. At least this one is not complicated like the glorified 9 patch. Several colors of the background fabric don't match but I don't care, I just love the character of it. I am sure the lady that made it did not want one of her family members selling it for a song but I will cherish it as long as it stays under my roof. It has many good years left in it.

Comment by Carol Vickers/OH on February 8, 2013 at 12:24pm It is great that these quilts have found a home where they will be used and loved. I'm sure their creators would want that for them!
Comment by AidaCJ/NH on February 8, 2013 at 7:09am Gorgeous quilt! It looks like something made in the early 60's? You are so lucky to find these quilts, the makers are surely happy to know they have found a home.
Comment by Debbie Snyder/WA on February 8, 2013 at 6:17am Quilt Rescue is at work again....good for you. Doesn't it make you happy to find something like this and are able to give it a nice home? I like the red binding idea too.
Comment by Irene Gallway on February 8, 2013 at 4:18am It's beautiful Linda. I can't help but wonder about the lady who made it. What did she look like, how old was she, where did she do her work etc. Did she use hand sewing or machine. I don't blame you for cherishing this quilt.
Comment by Mary, Tewksbury MA on February 8, 2013 at 3:47am Wonderful quilt. Red binding will look great. Enjoy.
Comment by Linda "Sue" Robertson, TN on February 7, 2013 at 8:40pm I totally agree this is a happy quilt!! It will be even happier when I get the red binding on it, That will even brighten it up more!! I have had these quilt tops for a number of years. One of the reasons I haven't gotten them quilted before now is I just didn't have the extra money. God is good and we have been blessed with the extra to spend on getting these finished. I only have one more and it is huge. It is black and cream. I haven't taken it to the quilter yet, still haven't quite made up my mind how I want to do it. Thanks girls for your comments!!

What a happy quilt! You can't look at it and not smile. I'm sure the woman who made the top would be thrilled to see it completed and loved.
Comment by Terry F on February 7, 2013 at 6:47pm What a gorgeous quilt this is. I love the way she used the red/white, blue/white and etc checkered 5 sided pieces to form the block. They just pop out at you. You really did find some good quilt tops and they do have a happy home. Keep on looking and bring more happy quilts into your home. I absolutely love this one.
