Quilt With Us

I just finished my 2nd Christmas postcard. This time I experimented w/embroidering lettering on the back & am thrilled with how good that turned out. Sure beats trying not to mess up the entire project with my less than stellar handwriting!

Barb, I love the crystals! They add just that right amt of bling. I too wish the stitching around the outside edge was better. Makes me wonder why they didn't do it more extensively. I tried the card with the word "Noel" on it yesterday, but wasn't really happy with it so if I do it over again I'm going to use a different fabric & more of a contrasting thread so the design shows up better. LIve & learn I guess.

I made one of the post cards - I was not happy with the finishing around the outside and my tear away left some pokies!! I satin stitched around the outside after I spritzed the edges with water to dissolve the stabilizer and it looks just fine now! I also added some "bling" with crystals.

Hi Gail, felt should do just fine. In fact, I think Deb, who owns embroidery library, uses felt occasionally.

Wow you have given me the inspiration to try one of these..I am fairly new and saw them and purchased one to try it out...you have done a great job..do you think felt would work for the top?

Thanks everyone. I used metallic thread. The label fell off, but I think it is a Floriani. I'm going to see if I can find the YLI locally as I do have some trouble w/Floriani breaking even though I use the right needle & a thread holder.

Really, really nice. And that's a great idea of embroidery on the back.

Janet: These are just too darn cute. Love the bells and what a great Christmas wish on the back. Did you use metalic tread? Was it YLI? I have been told that it's the best and doesn't break often.
