Quilt With Us

another experience - shopping with 4 teenage girls...LOL

One of the fundraisers we had in October netted us Volunteer Organization of the Year and $100 American Express card to spend on ourselves. So, we decided to spend the money on food for Chick Flick Movie Night (see earlier post for what that is). You should have seen the looks of mothers as they watched us pile our cart with all sorts of food....they all had smiles and were laughing. Listening to four girls decide what and how much to buy, and comparing prices, was hilarious!

We started in the frozen food because we figured that would be the most expensive. The list - (frozen food) bagel bites, pizza rolls, mini tacos, then grape and strawberry crush, root beer, case of water, lots of tortilla chips, ruffle chips, and some sort of flavored kettle chips, salsa, salsa con queso, holiday tins of popcorn, Easy Mac, Oreos (double stuff of course!), mint Oreos, Tootsie Roll banks, & Jelly Belly candy canes. We were on our way to get the makings of s'mores and went by the Hostess and Little Debbie products. One girl said she had never had a Twinkie. WAH? So ixnay on the s'mores and we got Twinkies, zingers, ho-hos, and cupcakes. At the checkout, we were about 5 bucks short, so we grabbed some orange Fanta from the cooler by the check-stand until we were over by 15 cents. The people in line behind us were laughing and said we couldn't have gotten much closer than that.

Now, before all you mothers say I'm trying to corrupt children, they wanted to buy fruit and veggie trays, but the expiration dates were all before next Friday, and they decided not to chance it. So we're going to ask everyone to bring something healthy with them. The one thing that surprised me is how well they worked together and the only candy items they bought were tootsie rolls and candy canes.

But I think the funniest thing I heard them say the whole shopping trip was that they were glad that no guys were going to be there so they could pig out and eat as much as they wanted to without guys making a comment how much they could eat. They were glad to "let their hair down" is what they said....ROFLOL

OK, enough students stories, back to working on those pincushions. :-D

I want to come to the party!!! You have to video some of the giggling! You gave yourself your own Christmas present buy doing this for them...Who lives that long and never had a twinkie????  You truly should be rewarded!
