Quilt With Us

Greetings!  More snow, 8 new inches!  Wish I could say I've been busy sewing all day but that isn't the case!  Did iron a few pieces of fabric to keep the stash in order but the rest of the day has been shoveling, chores and paperwork.  Sharing the photo my Niece sent of the holiday table runner that I made and mailed to AZ before Christmas.  She was thrilled to receive it and, as you can see, it coordinated well with their holiday decorations.  The new year has started off rocky (two deaths, another cancer diagnoses and additional elder care needs) so in order to balance out the stress,  I realized today that I must make time for fabric therapy and blog time! I think I will finish binding projects first and then see what fabric jumps out at me.  I have a magazine sorting project to finish as well.  Clearing out old magazines to make sure I have space to store my new subscription..............Quiltfolk.  Is anyone else enjoying this wonderful new magazine?

Have enjoyed all of the comments and support for my rocky start to the new year, thank you!  Barnes and Noble is the only place I have been able to purchase Quiltfolk. It really is unlike any quilt magazine currently in print!  LOL Irene about the corks!  Attended the quilt guild meeting this morning.  Show and Tell is always interesting, plus everyone was talking about their plans to finish UFOs and sew using fabric in their stash!  Spoke with a quilting friend this evening who recently moved to NJ.  She now lives in a "village" and joined the quilt group.  She shared that the meeting room has a large community closet that is packed with fabric!  At first she thought that the fabric was only for community service projects, however, she was informed that the fabric is up for grabs at any time!  She is so excited, as she too, is trying to sew up her stash and lands up needing to purchase fabric for borders or backing............not any more, she will just enjoy the community fabric closet!  How fun is that!

We had rain all night so for the 2nd time all of our snow has washed away.  Still cold outside here in Mid-Missouri though.  Your niece's display is very pretty.  I'm sorry to hear about the rocky start to your new year.  I hope things get better soon.

The runner looks great with the wine theme.  What a start to your New Year.  Nothing better than some fabric therapy.  I keep reading all the rave reviews about the Quiltfolk magazine.  Have not found it yet here, but knowing me I wouldn't spend the money.  LOL

Oh my gosh, I thought the corks were thread spools.

I think your niece has the right idea with the wine! The cork trees are cute. The runner looks really nice on her table.

I have not heard of Quiltfolk before. I will have to check into that.

I am sorry to hear of your year beginning badly. You have the right idea--you need fabric therapy to help balance out your life.

I can see why she loves her table runner. It's beautiful. I love the tree's made of spools. I'm sitting here thinking of all the spools I have thrown out that could have been used for a craft. I just got in from cleaning off my truck. We got 8 or 9 inches yesterday. It was light and fluffy so wasn't too hard to brush off. I'm sorry about all the sad news that has come your way. A couple of weeks ago I took at my book case. I organized my quilting books and then I threw out several magazines. Now I have more room to buy more quilting books. lol I must look into the Quiltfolk magazine.  I get the Block books from MSQC. I made two Wallflower quilts from one of Jenny Doan's Block books.
