Quilt With Us

I started this table runner a few years ago. It is the first of two projects that I chose to finish for my February UFO Challenge. Hooray! It is done. One more project to go. I am also trying to overcome my fear of machine quilting so I quilted it myself. (With a lot of helpful advise from my friends.) So far I can only quilt with my Walking Foot. I refer to this as quilting with training wheels since I can't free motion quilt.

The quilt is really lovely, Judy! Training Wheels work, and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has had to overcome the fear of machine quilting. I'm doing fine with the walking foot, and now with working on the swap project for Love Of Art Quilts, I'm working on getting comfy with free-motion. Try doing either a small project like the table runner, or use Sharon Pederson's method of "quilt as you go" and quilt individual blocks that you can put together afterward into a quilt top. You'll get there! That's what I'm doing...."baby steps! I'm doing the work!" ("What About Bob?")

Looks great. A nice size for a first time machine quilting.

Good for you! I'm trying to finish up but I have more than one waiting to be finished.

This is lovely!

YAY good for you!! I correct you though: you can't free motion...yet! Experimenting on a small project is easier because it gets a lot harder when you're wrestling a bulk of material like a bed quilt. Your runner is beautiful. Can't wait to see the next "formerly U" F.O. :)

I quilt small projects with training wheels, too. (I don't machine quilt larger projects just because it brings out the worst in me.) :0)

It's wonderful! Love the pattern and your quilting looks really good. I'm a beginner at it but practice does help.

It looks really good. Just practice on small pieces and you'll get the hang of doing whatever.
