Quilt With Us

It's only fitting that Mother Nature has the last laugh on us - snowing right now and about 6-10 inches will fall by Saturday pm.

I have not been on this site for a while.  Though I retired, it seems that there are less hours to do the normal daily chores. When was the last time I thoroughly cleaned the house - let me see, when did I have some company? Can't remember.

Anyways, I'm still quilting.  I now belong to a local quilt guild, and have volunteered to help out with making quilts for the various charities that our guild supports. I was hoping I could reduce the amount of fabric stash in my sewing room, but every time I come home from a meeting, I bring home a scraps to cut up into quilt kits. It's fun though, I believe I have turned in about 20 quilts since I joined last year.

My UFO's are starting to diminish, completed a few to give to nieces and nephews. I also bought a Janome sit-down quilting machine last year, so that made it easier for me to finish the quilts.  No fancy patterns, just stipples and squiggly lines to hold the quilt together.

Spring is just about here, so I'd probably start some indoor gardening and plant them outside when Mother Nature is done with her 'cold' tantrums.

Till next time.  Gotta do the dishes so I can change into my flannels and get back to sewing.

Hello Aida. So good to hear from you. I could have told you retirement would find you busier than before. For whatever reason, it just seems to happen. Good going on the charity quilts. And wow, a new sit down quilting machine. BTW, how is your granddaughter doing? Is she still spending as much time with you?

Hi Aida, I'm glad your enjoying your retirement and making good use of your time quilting for charity. I agree with you on "mother nature".  March was a very cold and stormy month. Hope April lets me get my bones thawed out.

Happy to hear from you; strange weather indeed this year!  Congratulations on your charitable quilting.  Enjoy "retirement."

20 charity quilts - good job, Aida!  Enjoy your "retirement" (sounds like you're busier than ever!) and that quilting machine.  In the meantime, quilt on and keep warm!
