Quilt With Us

ATTENTION....what is everyone doing????

We are awfully quiet...we need to check in ladies and gents.

I just finished making  four hot pads that will match my Thanksgiving tablecloth. I like them to be the size of large mug rugs so they don't cover up the design! So, I make them the size of the bottom of the bowls. I always do Thanksgiving, because I'm the only one in the family that knows how to cook! My parents are good cooks, but they are in Fl. This is one meal that everything has to be from scratch. I also like to invite students from the hospital that can't make it home. It is always a great time.

SO...let's hear some chatter!

Carol, sounds like your fingers have been busy! We closed up our lake house in the wind and rain. Always a job as you know!

Some of you sound awfully busy -- so much that you can't be having fun! (Are you listening, Irene?  Seriously, good luck with the eye surgery.)  I'm working on an Underground Railroad quilt presentation for my guild's next quilt show with 3 other quilters; finished a jazzy cat quilt just for fun; have 7 quilts lined up for the application of binding and hanging sleeves and waiting on two more from the LAQ; arranged for a tree trimmer to come up to the mountain cabin before winter comes. We have REALLY BIG pine trees near the house, and some of the giant limbs are making me nervous.   A very windy storm blew through our area on Saturday, and he was swamped so kept me waiting for him for several hours today!  No biggie -- more time for me to quilt and listen to music!

Dawn-what a great project for women vets. We are still waiting for our oak trees to shed...they are always the last and clog up the gutters!

Our group promised 10 single size quilts for an orphanage.  Been getting them done, getting ready for our annual sale.  Also have a request for baby quilts for women vets.  They are having baby showers monthly at our VA hospital.  The leaves are falling fast and DH and I have done 2 major cleanups and will have to do several more this week.

Busy, busy. Hope to get my Reflections quilt back from the quilter, so I can bind it. Still hand-quilting my Spring Flowers quilt. Knitting little bunnies for the grandkids for Christmas.....

Pam I have no idea, the recovery time for my eye surgery.  I'm hoping it won't be very long. I will let everyone know how I make out next week this time.  I should be home by Friday afternoon.

That's funny Janet...I'm going to get some as soon as I go to the mall!

Pam, there was a bed turning at the quilt show yesterday.  I turned to say something to the woman sitting next to me about one of the gorgeous antique quilts they were showing & saw she was wiring earrings with the wires.  She had those little rubber things on the back to keep them from falling off.  My immediate thought was "I wonder if Pam ever found any of those."  LOL

Preg-checking heifers yesterday.  Company coming today.  Preparing food for funeral dinner today.  Weaning calves next week.  We have done some canning and have more to do.  House needs cleaned before company comes.  Have some alterations that need done, but I keep putting that job off.  And so it goes...

Janet, you win...a day at the quilt show. Teaching is fun, but the winter driving at night not so much!

Roxann, ouch...you were lucky that you didn't have stitches or worse. That is a painful injury! SLOW DOWN...still haven't found that earring, it wasn't in the soup!

Irene, you need to rest a few days before surgery. Sounds like you are getting all your chores done at once before the surgery. What is the recovery for this?
