Quilt With Us

OK, I've had a hiatus and absolutely must get back to it...quilting that is.  I've been laid up the last two days with a broken toe, yes this is the third time I've smashed the same toe in a year.  Pretty clumsy of me.  This time I was awoken by a noise, got out of bed, peeked out the window and made my way back and smacked the toe on our bed post which is a huge claw footed mahogany sleigh bed.  My DH calls me a cat as I can see more in the dark than he, but on this night I guess I just wasn't awake enough to see.  So, I've been laid up watching Downton Abbey repeats and finishing a couple crochet items in my basket as well as reading through an Improv quilt book.

Autumn is my favorite time of year with all the wonderfully warm and vibrant colors in nature.   This may be an old quilt (Blocks completed in 1999, quilt finished in 2014) that took me a long time to complete, but I just love the colors.

I love fall too. I have always loved the Maple Leaf block as well. It is a lovely quilt!

When summers are as hot as they are here (100+ daily), fall days are greatly appreciated (any day now, Mother Nature!), so, yes, fall is my favorite season -- by far!  PQ, one of my first quilts was made with 6" blocks in a bears-paw pattern -- in plaids no less!  It took me many years to finally finish that quilt!  Don't give up!

Prairie Quilter, Thank you and I am so happy my quilt has inspired you to get back to your UFO.  It will be such a joy when you complete it, as you know of course. ;o)  Please post a picture of your blocks/quilt, would love to see them.

It's wonderful to look at quilts I've done, appreciate them for what they are and move onto something new.  I used to throw my quilts in bins and store them in a closet and forget them.  I have a new appreciation for them and now they're hung all over the house.  ;o)  BTW, I have 3 on my bed, we use them every night and peel off or add as needed with the changing weather.

I like the fall quilt colors as well.  When I was first starting out quilting, I had one of these in mind for a fall bed quilt.  I have 13 blocks done (or something like that) and just never finished it.  I still have the fabrics and blocks.  Seeing your quilt inspires me to get back to it!

I also love Fall. Your quilt is beautiful. The weather is cooler, so I think it motivates you to get busy!

Thank you for your comments.  Yes, donalma shoust, it is just a maple leaf block repeated.  It was a guild raffle where I won 10 blocks.  I made 6 more and placed them between thin 1.5" sashing strips and corner squares.  Each block measures 12" finished.  There is no border, just bound edges.  I used this quilt as a machine quilt sampler, so every block is quilted a little differently to practice my machine stitches.

Is this just a block repeated or does the pattern have a name?I love it.

Ouch!  I see bubble wrap slippers in your future.  Fall really is a gorgeous time.  Just sent off a fall runner to my DIL.  Now I'm thinking maybe I can start with the fall decorating around the house.
