Wow, what a night we had last night. We have finally got the heat of summer, but only for a couple of days yet. And when that heat arrives, the humidity soars right along with it. It is days like that, that I stay where it is cool and quilt.
But that is not what I was going to tell you about. Around 5a.m. this morning, I woke the the low grumbling of thunder. Well, if it was going to rain, I had to go and close the windows to make sure that we would not have a lake inside once the rain arrived. Ah, it was an awakening. My hubby and I did not bother going to sleep again this morning. We just watched the lightening turning our bedroom in to day, and listened to the rain pounding down on the roof. It was lightening so continuously that there was never more than a second or so between flashes. And, of course, the grumble of thunder was also nearly continuous. This went on for an hour. What a huge storm and a lot of rain. Over an inch in this storm cell alone. But the show was truly spectacular. I would not have wanted to sleep through it because it was that much of a "WOW".
