Quilt With Us

Well I am well on the way to finishing this quilt. The blocks were made by non-quilters and were varied in subject, fabric and size - all close to 12 x 12".

After arranging them and adding sashing to show up each block and help square them up, I joined them in rows of 3 - making 4 rows. I have FMQ around (giving me lots of practice) and inside each block and have shadow quilted around the sashing of half of the blocks.

I will join the rows using the process of quilt as you go and then the binding of strips of bright colours left over from the sashing. The back is like a shadow play of each block. I wonder what Sogni d'oro means?

Thank you for the translations Carol and Virginia - now I can tell my DD. My DD and 9 of her friends and two DDs of one of the friends made the blocks for the new baby at a baby shower weekend. I offered to assemble and quilt it!!

Sandy, "sogni d'oro" is Italian for "sweet dreams."  (Just so you know.)

Very nice Sandy and a wonderful way to utilize those orphan blocks or as you, as odds and ends.

Quilt as you go is a great process! Love your quilt!  Sogni d'oro is Italian for "good night and golden dreams" Or "good night and sweet dreams". (I looked it up for you. Was curious myself lol.)  :)
