Quilt With Us

So I finally have time to get back to work on my wall hanging.  I'm piecing the border blocks.  I get to step three and I don't have the fabrics for the block corners.  This pattern was written in steps instead of giving all the cutting instructions at the beginning.  So I look thru every bin and drawer in my room and I don't even find a smidge of the main fabrics.  The only one I have is the dark purple for the binding but there's plenty of it.  In my search I found another purpley gray that goes really well with the rest of my fabrics.  So I have to figure out how to work it in and make it look like it was there all along.  I'm not taking the center apart and adding it to the center but I took some of the spacer units apart and added the new fabric there and used some of the spacer parts for the block corners.  I know there's really not much hope of finding any of the fabrics I started with since most of them are fairly old so my only option is to work the other fabric in and make it work.

I doubt anyone but you will ever notice the substitution, unless you give them the pattern to to compare the two.

LOL, the nearest quilt store is in my sewing room!!  Otherwise it's minimum drive of an hour to the closest quilt store.  The best one in this corner of the state is about 2 hours away.

Please post a picture when you are finished it. I have had that happen before. Irene it is funny you should say that. I have a huge stash of fabrics (kinda like a fabric store) and still have to go and buy something to fit into a quilt.

And that is why quilting is good for your brain!  I'm sure it will be beautiful.

It is frustrating to get in these situations where your having to re-think everything. The other day I decided to cut out a wall hanging pattern. Of all the fabric I have in this house I didn't have a couple of colors that I needed to suite me. Maddening, isn't it.
