Today my cousin who works for the fire department called, my daughter answered the phone from her computer room. I went in and she had her face in her hands, bawling. The worst possible news a parent can get these days. someone from my DGD's high school took a gun to school. As the story unfolded a boy that goes to school there and whose girlfriend broke up with him, Planted a gun in her bookbag that she had left in her car. then called the school and reported that the girl was carring a gun. the school was under lock down, the police called in. the girl's locker and car was searched and she was took to jail and questioned. the girl knew nothing of the gun. they are now looking for the boy but cannot find him. the boy has been threatening, following and harrassing this girl ever since they broke up. the news reported that a man had gone into the school with a gun but it turned out to be a false alarm. which sadly was not the truth according to my cousin. I'm just thankful that no one was hurt and that this boy gets the help he needs. He only 15/16 years old. And the sad thing is that the girl told no one what was going on,

Linda, that is so sad. Give your DD a big hug from me and we will be praying that all will end in peace and the boy will get help as obviously he needs.

This takes me back to when our daughter was about that age. It was a dance partner and not a boyfriend who she befriended. He wanted more and she wanted less. Harassment, etc. started and he threated to kill her, us and then himself. We had safe houses to go to on a moment's notice, etc. He was finally put into the psych ward and continued to make threats. Finally he was jailed for a while then, to my great disgust/anger/etc. he was allowed to go back to the same high school where she was! AUGH!!!!! Theses things are so sad, and they mess up so many lives. Do whatever is needed to help your daughter deal with the situation - these are things that can scar a life if not dealt with.

She should have counseling too for what she's gone through and how to put it in perspective, learn from it (so she can avoid crazies in the future), and move on in a healthy way. I was stalked and threatened when I was a teen. It was a terrible experience and even almost 30 years later I still have issues with security and trust -- and I think I'm well-adjusted. lol. But things like this never really leave you. Thank goodness it wasn't worse.

Linda this is sad wherever it happens but this one hits close to home. Even Tennessee is not exempt from the madness of today's society. I so wish God had never been taken out of the schools by our government.

This poor girl was probably scared to death! It is a good thing that the police believed her & are now trying to find this boy. I hope he gets some much needed mental health help.

A sad story about the girl and she should have told her friends. It's so terrible about the way the schools have to be now. My DH took his hunting rifle and put in in the carrier in the back window of his pickup. Whe he arrived at school, the vice-principle came over and asked to see his rifle. He told DH to go look at his that was in his back window. Both were admired and then they went into the school. What a change this country has seen.

It's so sad what kids have to deal with in school these days--a lot more than I did.

Young people are notorious for keeping things to themselves, or only sharing with their very close friends. The guy needs some serious help and she may need some restraining orders put in place. Even though sometimes they fail, at least the message gets out - don't bother me!
