Quilt With Us

On April 14 I posted that I was waiting for breast biopsy report.  Had biopsy of both breasts.  Left side shows DCIS stage 0 (ductal carcinoma in situ); cancer is contained in mammary duct and has not spread at all.  Right side was negative for cancer.  The next day I saw OB/GYN doctor for vaginal bleeding; she did a biopsy of uterus which showed early endometrial cancer grade one of the uterus.  Sometimes when it rains it pours.  Because both of these cancers are caught early, the outlook is positive.  On May 12 I'll have lumpectomy of breast and removal of uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. I am so glad to have both surgeries same day.  One time for anesthesia and one night in hospital.   If all final pathology reports are same as initial reports, I will be around for a long time.  I will need radiation to breast but no additional treatment for uterine cancer.

God is good!  My DH has been wonderful going to all appointments, etc. and laughing and crying with me.  Our DD has also gone to appointments with us and is a 6 year survivor of same breast cancer so she is a great mentor and support person.  Since the initial shock wore off, we have been doing well.  We just want to get the show on the road and be back home to begin recovery.  I try to spend my energy on being positive and not the negative.

Last post I mentioned my sis having same cancer.  She will have bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction on May 20.  We both wish we lived closer to each other and do this on the buddy plan but she is in Kentucky.  We will be together in heart.

Thanks to all of you for your concern and prayers.  Will post again after surgery and I'm back home.

Thanks for the update. Though not exactly the report we wanted, it is so good it has been caught early and is contained as it is. Praying that you will be filled with God's peace, knowing He is with you and your family and the team of health professionals throughout it all. Don't push your recovery time, your body will need it. Gather hand projects and good books and fun movies and quilt shows and of course the appropriate amount of chocolate.  Blessings & Hugs to you and your sister.

June I'm so sorry to hear this.  It is good you are keeping a positive attitude about all this and early detection is the key to complete recovery.  My prayers are with you and your sister.

I think you did all the right things, and made all the right decisions!  Keep that positive attitude going and you cannot be defeated.  Blessings on you.  "Live long and prosper," no, wait . . . I must have heard that somewhere. . . (p.s. don't forget to laugh) :-)

Looks like you are taking this in stride with a very positive attitude. So grateful that these cancers were found in the early stages. Long live June and her sister.

Thanks for the update, June.  It's good to know that the outlook is positive and YOUR outlook is positive.  It is an encouragement when I hear folks praising the Savior in the midst of life's hard.  It makes me think of many scripture references, but this one in particular tonight, "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you."  Isaiah 26:3.  From your post, it seems you are feeling His peace because of your steadfast love.

So very glad you caught this early, and your prognosis is good.  Best wishes for a speedy, event free recovery.
