Hey all, I just wanted to take a moment and comment on something I love to do... make biscuit quilts. I started making them when I found a pattern for them in 1999. The first one I made was for my neice who is now 13. They are pretty easy to make one you get a "rhythm" for them and I tried making a king size one for my daughter and her husband but it was heavy by the time I finished. So now I stick to making them crib size and everyone that I have made them for uses them for the bottom of the cribs. It supplements the mattresses and can be carried on overnight stays so that the child has something from home.

I would love to know what a biscuit quilt is also.

I have a pattern for a biscuit quilt that I have had since I worked at the fabric store. I think I will get it out and maybe try to make one.
Comment by Prairie Quilter/NE on February 19, 2013 at 4:03pm One of my favorite baby quilts was a biscuit quilt given to my daughter back in '89. My great aunt made it. I have one of them on my "to-do" list. They are nice. Perfect for scrap quilts.
Comment by debbie meares on February 19, 2013 at 2:42pm Yes it was and after storing it for several years she gave it back to me and I am going to "recycle" it by taking it apart and reusing all the fabric to make some smaller lap size quilts.
Comment by Mary, Tewksbury MA on February 19, 2013 at 1:33pm I looked at your photos, very interesting. They look incredibly soft but can imagine the king size would be quite heavy.
