Blocks without Borders, by Beverly Hicks Burch

If you DO NOT have a sense of humor, please don’t read any further, because YES! this is a pun…a play on Doctors without Borders, Engineers without Borders, Teachers without Borders, Librarians without Borders, Journalists without Borders, TV Reports without Borders and any other wonderful, altruistic groups out there without Borders doing great and wonderful works for humankind.

You see, my head is too muddled from days and weeks of number crunching bills, tax extensions, tea parties, billion and trillions of dollars of future generational debt, trying to sell a wonderful house in a crappy real estate market just to have people think that’s a license to steal it from you AND a bug that makes my poor weary head feel like I have 50 pounds of cotton batting stuffed in every cranial cavity.

Other than that…I’m doing just fine…

…and even with all that I’ve managed to be semi-productive…

Rather than show you my final two Southern Stars block of the months, I thought I’d show you one step further. I have actually managed to sash the blocks together and all I need to do is add borders…and of course quilt it!

So, if you will…feast your eyes upon my blocks without borders :)...

Again, I humbly thank yall for taking the time to look at my blocks with out borders! Just like Rome being built in a day, the borders are being added slowly but surely...

And ... your quilt is beautiful ... how could I forget to mention that before? And will only get better with the borders on. Make sure you show us a picture.

What would we quilters do without borders??? These beautiful pieces of fabric that we just can't cut and that magically set our quilts and get us to the final size??

:) Thanks everyone!

There was a method to my madness...I have one border fabric I wanted to use. I've had it for years...and I mean years. I took it with me to the quilt shop and pulled colors out of it for the BOM. The green actually has a purple "sheen" in places...pictures just can't convey all the nuances of the fabrics :/

Since the posting I've added an inside border and started the outer border...between using massive quantities of Kleenex...

Can't wait to see it with borders, this has turned out to be a really nice quilt, I like your choices of fabrics, even though each is very different there is a cohesiveness (is that even a word?) about it that really pleases the eye. I am thinking from what I have read from everyone involved in doing their taxes is that I am glad I live in Canada. One hour and I had three peoples taxes done and filed and got our returns back inside of two weeks. But I bet you are relieved to get that part behind you.
