Quilt With Us

It has been a busy summer and it has just started. I am trying to get my business up and running and that has been a real hoot. Also, I have been trying to get ufo done, so I can start classes in September. I have been asked to give private quilt lesson, and I think I have 2 people lined up already. Now I just have to figure out how much to charge. I have my pattern picked out and some other things about ready to go. I just need to make the wall hanging so I know how to put it together.

I have been using my longarm quite a lot lately. They say practice makes not perfect. I went to a quilt show in Wichita Ks with my DIL over the weekend and it was great. Over 900 quilts and lots of vendors. Picked up some great tips.

The weather has been hot here the last week. I think we have our water problem solved. Thank heavens for that, as my sewing machines are in the basement. Had to buy dehumidafiers for the basement to keep everything dry.

I hope everyone is staying well and having a good summer. I got my CT catalog and placed and order. Batting is a great price. Even cheaper that the store in town.

Have a great day.

Vicky, glad to hear the water problem is under control. I have a dehumidafier that runs year run in my basement (might have something to do with the 100 gallon fish tank). Sure makes a difference in your comfort as well. If you have issues with smells don't forget about using the Oderstroyer from Zep. Didn't realize you had an long arm down there too, I would have benn having puppies over the water issues if it had been me!

It's good to hear from you Vicky. I wish that we lived closer so that I could take lessons with you. What is the business you are starting?

Vicky, I have not taught a sewing/quilting class but I used to teach classes for Ceramics and I charged a flat rate of $12.50 per class and the classes were 2.5 hours. Not everyone works at the same speed so there will be those who need more time. I am sure there are some on here who have taught classes who can give better advice. I just don't want you to end up doing these classes for nothing.

Hi Vicky! The quilt show sounds wonderful! My mom, SIL and her mother were in Newton (just north of Wichita) a couple weekends ago for a bridal shower. My nephew will be getting married in Wichita in August, so I'll be back there then. Couldn't believe the wheat was already turning [gold] when we were there in early June. The wheat in Nebraska doesn't turn until around the 4th of July.
