Quilt With Us

Seriously, All the singers, Prince, Glen Fry, one of my favorites, and all the others we lost this year so far.  The other half here at home posted on face book that Ozzy Osborn should post a video so that we knew he was still alive.

On a more personal note, things haven't been much better here.  Mom had bronchitis and was in the hospital when she couldn't breath very well last month.  It may sound harsh to some but I did tell my family that I needed help with her.  No one goes over to help her except me and there isn't much that I can do.  Her last sister passed away just over a month ago and I know mom is depressed.  She isn't eating much and doesn't really do anything but watch tv.  My sister now goes over to the house once or twice a week while I'm working and sits with mom.  She claims that she is helping clean but personally I don't see it when I'm there.  I have talked to my mom about having someone come in and help her but she fights me.

So if anyone knows of a reliable source of information that I can contact where I can get everything I need to know in one place, please let me know.  LOL the best my family can come up with is here's a number call them.  Of course my response is "Why are your fingers broke?" Ok so it's the only way I can deal with them.  I work and none of them do and yet they expect me to do everything.

And on a more personal note, I have an ex-sister-in-law, but still a good friend,  who went into the hospital on mothers day and is dealing with (NSTI)  bacteria in one of her legs.  All that I know so far is that they have removed skin and some muscle from the leg.  She has had surgery everyday hoping to save her leg.  Her family has not wanted anyone to visit with her and I understand and respect that.  Personally wishing information was a little more forth coming about how she is doing.  All prayers and well wishes accepted.

DD is doing fine for the most part.  The best part of life around here is seeing these two guys:

Aiden is 3 and Lucas is now 7 months old with two teeth that came in over the last weekend.

Those little guys are adorable!  Thank goodness for a reason to smile.

Home Health services were a godsend when we were trying so hard to keep my mother at home.  Often hospitals are equipped with a social worker that may be able to help, or try your local Division of Aging.  Keep standing up to your family, it's survival for you!  Try not to let the stress affect your own personal health.  Oh, the stories I could tell you about trying to protect your own health!

Great information Irene...you can't do it all by yourself. You're smart in realizing you need help. Don't let your mother guilt you into not found it. They all go down that road, but after a few times of someone coming in, they get on board. Good luck. I suggest making a time chart and include all family members to schedule what days is theirs and who does what on that day, like cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.

Kathy, you truly have my sympathy.  Call Home Health services.  Years ago Mum fell and broke her wrist and I was going to her house and bathing her and doing as much as I could.  Then we got home health to come in and it was a life savor for me as I was working at the time.  Then last year when Bud was home, I got them again to help bath him and help with his therapy etc.  Then there is the Gould assessment who will set up a longer program.  We have an agency called Eastern Area on Aging that sets us up with home health.  Check your hospitals for leads for help available to you.  Sometimes the patient (our family members) fight help coming in but it's worth looking into.
