Like some of the rest of you, I too have gotten away from posting or doing much on here. Thanks Pam for the nudge.
For me I quit coming on a regular basis after my hubby retired, 6 years ago. Life dealt us some detours that were out of our control (for the most part). Started out 6 months after moving into our home I had a heart attack. No worries on that now as I am in better health than I have been for years. I have brought my chloresterol levels into normal ranges, all without medication. Also I have shed 100 pounds!
No sooner had I recovered than my Jerry was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He also had diabetes, dementia and heart problems. After cancer treatments, he had a heart valve replaced. The dementia continued to get worse, cancer came back and had spread. Treatment no longer an option for him. After caring for him 24/7 for 4 years I lost him Fabruary 21 of this year. My world is totally different without him. We had been married for almost 40 years.
The bright spot for was our precious grandson who is now a year and a half. He is a very active little guy. I take care of him during the day while his mommy works. He already likes going to quilt shops with me. Yesterday he pulled a bolt of fabric from the shelf, put it on the counter so gramma bought a yard. He showed his mom like it was a precious treasure. He went to my sewing machine, patting it trying to get me to start sewing.
I have done very little quilting over the past several years. Just not the time plus by the end of the day, just too tired. I have done some handwork, red and/or blue work. Have a couple bitter/sweet projects that were started for Jerry but just no time to finish them for him. I will finish and use them as time allows.
My kids and I have done a lot of yard work as things were neglected for a long time. It's really taking shape and looking good. Have lots of vegies coming on as well. I am tired now, but it's a "good" tired.
So, that is the highlights of the past few years. It is time for me to get back here and connect with the rest of you beyond just a few.
Take care and have a great day and 4th weekend.
