We just returned from a fantastic trip. We flew to Phoenix on Thanksgiving day to spend with dear friends. After three days we traveled to Santa Fe, stopping at the National Petrified forest. The beauty of the scenery in New Mexico and Az was awesome. Every ten miles , it seemed to change. We were in heaven shopping in Santa Fe. We collect American Indian art. After blowing our budget, we continued on to northern NM to the Navajo Dam. My father worked on the building of this dam 60 years ago, but has never seen the finished product. It is now a beautiful state park. Our next stop was Sedona,AZ. What a gorgeous area. Breath taking views. We then traveled to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. What an awesome sight. It makes you want to sing America the Beautiful or recite poetry. It was a great time to visit, because not many visitors. It snowed overnight and that just brought on another look! We saw eagles soaring and elk within a few feet. Onto the skywalk, wished we had not bothered. They make you put cameras and your purse in lockers, because they have their own photographers that want to sell you a package. Not the impressive part of the canyon to begin with. Our last stop was Vegas. We spent one day at Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. What a feat that was to construct. We actually were going to a conference. That's what spurred on this trip. We were there with many research colleagues so decided since it's our year to celebrate 45 years of marriage we would let Elvis to the honors. What an absolute ball we had along with our friends. This was a flawless trip and we made many new memories.
