Quilt With Us

My men moved cows to cornstalks (winter feed in these parts) this morning. They saddled up before daylight and were back at the house around 1:30 for dinner. It was a long drive, but the day was cool enough to keep the cows from overheating and warm enough not to freeze out the guys on horseback. I spent the morning in the kitchen preparing a meal for the extra hands. We used to have the meal ready by noon (just in case), then stick it in the oven, and didn't set things on the table until they rode in. Now, though, in this technologically advanced age, they just call me on their cell phones to tell me what time to have dinner on the table. Cowboys and cell phones. It just doesn't seem right...

Dear PQ, sorry it takes me so long to return your note. There are spaces in this site I've just found. I've finished a stack of "singing" blocks" & hubby said lets give it to Haley. Who? It's a SIL of newest DIL whose hubby is FT marine in VA. I think the ufo I have are calling to me. Also my camera is in use by another son-"family camera, Mom" I'm full of excuses & work schedules. the brights: lime green, black with lime green, peachy pink, turquoise & soft ocean blue & orange all fight for 1st to be seen. It was my indecision over wedding colors last yr & it's really funny to see blocks all together. motion & dischordant strips. funny looking. I'd better take some lessons. Take care thru the snowbanks. Betty

A foot in two centuries!! They make life easier in so many ways--the cell phones, of course!! So glad that the cowboys are still active--a way of life that has changed lots, but much has remained the same!! Isn't life like that--we change, prayerfully for the better, but still we are who we are--God's creation!! Have a great week--blessings

We still do not always have the advantage of cell Phones, They work some places on the range but not all places and do not work here at home at all. Wish they did it would be wonderful to know what was going on and when they would be home.

It doesn't sound like the two should be in the same sentence. Sure makes it easier for you though. I hate it when there's that rest time between having it done (keeping warm in the oven) and then having to get up and go back in the kitchen to serve. Now it's done in one smooth step.

Prairie Quilter, technology is wonderful. Only problem with that is it probably puts more pressure on you as now, you have to have it ready. No excuses (ha). But you are right, it doesn't seem right.
