Quilt With Us

Not up for doing two-hundred and twenty-five Dear Jane 4" blocks? Then this group is for you! We will be using Jennifer Chiaverini's book, Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts to make ONLY (?) one-hundred and forty 6" blocks. The challenge is to have the quilt finished in one year. We will officially begin on June 15, 2009 and finish on June 15, 2010. That gives everyone about 3 weeks to get all your fabric together and get the book. You can see that I will be making mine from our new collection Hearth & Home but you can use anything you like. This quilt is a good way to use up all your scraps and in the end you will have an amazing quilt. Our only rule is that each block has to be different. Let the fun begin!

OK...my book has been ordered. Now to get a few things done before it comes so that I can catch up with you who have already got squares made. I agree with Yolanda - I'll need help with the paper piecing.

Yolanda, not all the blocks are paper-pieced. We'll help you through the ones that are. The quilt will be beautiful and I think it's fun to learn along the way.

I applaud you all. I love the books. I'll wait and gander at your finished projects. This will be a great inspiring projects. I'll be anxious to see the different states that will be represented. I'm not a good paper piecer -- not a really good quilter, but I love the process.

Ada, the directions, and templates are all included in the book. You don't need separate patterns.

With so many un~quilted tops in my collection, I am going to passon this project and see if I can finish some Christmas gifts. I am going to be very antsy waiting to see progress pics as all go along. I have enjoyed so much the Southern Stars quilt along. Thanks for coming up with a new project but maybe there will be something else later on........

Hi Darlene, This is probably a silly quetion but do you sell the patterns. I know you sell the book, but when I looked at the pictures the patterns were not included. So, will you be selling the pattern?I

I think it will be a great opportunity to learn new blocks. I love the Series of books. I think I have read every one. I will love to see all of the finished products when done. I have too many UFO's to start somehting else. So I have to get busy on the ones I have. I hope to someday make a quilt like the ones presented in her books.
