Leaving Kerrville Texas

Woke this morning feeling much better. Actually felt good enough to have breakfast. It’s amazing how Ny-Quil makes you sleep. This morning we left Kerrville TX and plan to go as far as Lubbock TX. So far it’s been smooth sailing as nothing drastic has happened. We even lucked out with a tail wind most of the way. I figured our average miles per gallon and we’re at 8.04. Not good but not bad either. As we are headed north on Hwy 83 I took some pictures of the small towns in the area…population 360 to 4500.

This cross was in the small town of Eden population 2415.

Going thru Winters, pop 2840, I took this photo of their town hall and a city street.

Nearing Lubbock we saw fields and fields of the wind turbines. 1000's would be a close estimate. I know why they're here....this is one heck of a windy city. In fact they have a Wind Museum here...no kidding and these things are HUGE. Now the wind is blowing in the darkest skies I've seen in a long time. It's blowing so hard that our motor home is rocking. It's like being on a cruise ship, (I Wish). No sitting outside today. Actually looks like thunder may be in our very near future. Well, that's enough for now...until tomorrow.

The weather report says lots of rain and wind for parts of Texas so have my fingers crossed that you are in a different area. We just returned from Texas 2 weeks ago and were blessed with good weather other than 95 degrees with 87% humidity. Too bad you are in a hurry to get home as there is so much to see in Texas, and such good Mexican food and barbeque. Hmmm, I'm hungry for some.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better!! Yes, Texas has lots of wind and sun!!--and several climates within the borders of the state!! Washington has at least 3 climates--coast, mountains and dessert??

Debbie, my family & I lived in Kerrville from 1984 to 1988. My dh worked for K-Mart at that time, but I believe the K-Mart is closed there now. It was a great place to raise kids, but when K-Mart started talking about closing that store, they transferred him back to Austin. I moved to Austin in 1977, to Kerrville in 1988 and then back to Austin until 1994. I miss the TX hill country more than words can say!
