Quilt With Us

Are you ready?!  Seriously!  After all my searching and sewing my new friend that will be coming home with me tomorrow is:

Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 875!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually fell in love with the Janome MC 8900.  I mean, fell in love with!! Like, it sounded as good as a Barry White voice calling me to quilt and create.................******************.........ok, where was I?  Sorry, got lost in dream world for a moment.....Anyway, both machines are on sale and it was a hard decision until I got sticker shock!  Then it pretty much made up my mind. Or atleast my wallet!  I called poor hubs and he just about croaked.  So, I didn't buy on the spot, I came home.  We talked, I wooed, he reasoned, I sighed and now I realize that the Viking is the way to go.  Sure, we all like the young dashing rich lover with the fancy car and stylish looks....but then we realize that just as handsome but perhaps a bit less polished is the trustworthy Mr. Steady that despite not having an Ivy League education will work hard, provide hours of love and understanding and in the end will be forgiving of our inadequacies and ineptitudes.  They will even surprise us with what they can do that we probably have no idea.  Sure they're a bit noisier and less refined but genuine, hard-working and true-blue for many wonderful years to come.  Wait, I am talking about a sewing machine right?  LOL!!

So, there you have it ladies!  I can hardly wait!  I still think her price is a little higher than I might find somewhere over the rainbow but this is the only place I can drive to in a day that sells machines. (she is listing it on sale with the extras that are on special for $2100. Oh my goodness I cannot believe I'm seriously going to pay this much for a machine.....) it comes with an extension table and quilters package accessories.

Thanks for helping me out and I'll let you know how it goes when I bring my baby home.  Noisy little critter but maybe that will keep me awake through those long tedious chains! ;)

I think that you will be very happy with Sapphire 375.  I have the Sapphire 350 and it is my "main machine".  I believe Pam/NY has the Sapphire 375 and that she loves hers too.  I especially like the fabric sensor that sets the machine for the right amount of pressure, etc. for the fabric you are using - but you can over ride it too!  Also, the automatic presser foot that spoils me (so that I forget to put the foot down before sewing on another machine!), and the needle down/up selector.  Please let us know how the relationship is going?  Congratulations!

Glad you found the perfect machine for you.  Congratulations and many years of stitching happiness.  Enjoy -- and don't feel guilty.

I have this machine and absolutely love it! You sometimes think you want all the fancy gadgets...but, reality is...you don't use them! Enjoy it and name it!

Congratulations 3boykinsmommy on your new love.  I wish you 2 much happiness! I have a Viking Emerald, probably the baby sister to yours.  Pretty basic machine but a good little workhouse who meets my needs- for now.  When I read your blog I agreed with selling your old machine, makes sense as you won't be using it and could always use the few dollars extra.  BUT Gayle is right, it's lonely when you're machineless.  Hard decision, I'd probably try to sell.

So, don't feel guilty about the expense.  We Moms always put ourselves last and we so deserve a little reward now and then.  Enjoy getting to know your new man!

Hey 3boykinsmommy, congratulations on the new machine and I am sure you are going to enjoy it sew much. If I were you and we're able to afford to keep the old one then I would just sit it back on a shelf and keep it for a spare. Why? You ask? When you have to take that new machine in for it's yearly check up and fine tuning you are going to get lonely without someone to stitch your seams with you. I still have my old original Kenmore that I bought new in 1966 for $99.00 at Sears. It is my favorite for making buttonholes.

Thank you everyone!  I almost feel like I'm getting married again! LOL  Maybe it is kind of like that....hmmmmm....Anway, do you think it bad if I "sell" my old machine.  Gosh, hate to hurt it's feelings but I've moved on in life and well, I no longer need him.  Do you think he'll be heartbroken and feel used?  I would love to find a newer quilter or sewer, someone who is just getting into sewing but like me, didn't have the money to start big but wants something that will do more than the average machine at Walmart will do and they can learn on and upgrade later.  Not much of a market around here unfortunately.....

June, it's funny you mentioned it because I went back in my posts to find you as you had recommended it to me.  I put a comment on your page....it's a sweet machine that's for sure!

Congratulations on your exciting purchase.  I think I mentioned in your first blog about what to buy that I just bought the same machine 2 weeks ago so have not spent much time on it yet.  So far I like it.  Can't wait to use it for FMQ; I have several tops just waiting to be FMQ'd.  Will go to a "how to use" class soon; so many buttons, gadgets, etc.  Good luck and enjoy.  I think I might call her Vicky.

So happy that you got your dream machine. Now, to learn all the in's and out's  and put it to work. Happy quilting.
