Quilt With Us

Hi Ladies & Gents,

I am making a quilt that I want to add beads, sequines and more than likely use some embrodery thread to enhance the main part of my quilt. This is all new to me and I have NO idea what I'm doing or how to do it. I don't know if I add all that once the quilt is sandwiched and quilted or do I do it all before I quilt the top. Any and I mean any help would be much appreciated!! I do not want it like a crazy quilt. I just want to add to the finished top.

Thank you,

Maria

Well I'm sad to say that I totally fubarred the center and I'm not going to go spend more money to buy the specific fabric I need. So for now I'm back to my New Year's Resolution and if I can find a contest that doesn't req using a certain line of fabric I may enter. If not of well but I do plan on try the embellishing, I've added it to my UFO list. Thank you all for your suggestions and support!

I agree with CarolAnn and also what to add...Just have fun with it!  Stress and worry take all the fun out of it.  If you like it...that's all that counts.  If you think a little more is better, go for it.  Be sure to share you photo afterwards or for that matter during too.

Hi Joana, This will be my first time too. We'll see how good I'm at it LOL Can't wait to see yours and thank you! I too try to challenged myself then I get out of my "comfort" box and get scared and nervous but thats the only way to learn. Hugs!

I'm so glad you asked this question, Maria--I had wondered the same thing as I finished up my guild challenge quilt.  I had never done any embellishment, so I was just winging it.  Nice to know I did it in the right order!  Good luck with your entry!  I will post a picture of my quilt after our "big reveal" at the end of January--i challenged myself to do as many new things as possible in it, and I did!  Happy quilting (and beading and embroidering and everythign else!).

Good luck girl,  I have never done any embellishments on anything,  much less on a quilt.

Use some straw needles to sew on the beads. Any that had small opening seem to have no problems with straw needles. I love bead work.

Maria - You will have fun!  Believe in yourself and you can do anything.  Quilter's call this "stretching." You may not win the contest, but think of all you will learn!  I'm shaking in my shoes when I try something outside of my "comfort zone", but I'm always happy I did.
