Quilt With Us

Enjoying the last weeks of Summer...

Where does the time go? We have had a great summer at the lake. The water is in the high 70's so no more creaming to get in! There are 5 of us that meet at two o'clock to swim for an hour and yeah a little gossiping!!! Someone has to spread the lake rumors! We went to the neighboring town to get PA peaches. They are so good…the corn is in it's prime. I will put NY sweet corn up against any…hot days and cool evenings make corn, apples, and grapes grow!

We are headed to Nebraska over Labor Day for a memorial celebration for my brother. Haven't seen family in five years so looking forward to that.

Luckily, I got a jump start on Christmas gifts early this year, so no mad push for the holidays. We are going to San Antonia in Oct. They have an art school there that has a gift shop. Always a great place to get that special item.

Hope everyone is busy as bees...

These are two pictures of my 85 yr. old father working 12 hour days in ND. My brother is the project manager and hires him in the summer. They are building a water treatment plant. He is 60 ft. up tethered at the knees! Makes it hard for anyone in the family to think about retiring!!!

Your dad reminds me of my grandpa. He worked on our farm doing everything you can think of. He lived to be 91 and only his last summer he couldn't do much. Hurray for you dad. Good genes.

This has been a beautiful Summer here also.  Today is all sun with a cool breeze coming in my windows and doors. Enjoy your family as you celebrate your brothers life and the joy he brought you while he was here.  Your dad is amazing to be that far off the ground at his age.

Used to be folks were done at 60-65. It's great to be able to continue working, if you want, after that. As Barbara said, "Go Dad!"

Wow he is 85 years young! That is what keeps people energized being focus on what ever makes them happy.
Kinda of bittersweet getting together with family, remember the happy times and enjoy catch up, Pam.

Summer is beginning to fade our end too but my favorite month of all is coming up, hot days but cool cool nights and mornings.

Huge kudos to your dad!  Keeping active is what keeps us all "young".  Have a safe trip to Nebraska.  Wish it was under better circumstances.

Hats off to your dad!  What a legacy.

Summer is quickly fading, enjoy as much time out on the water as possible.  Your family celebration to honor your brother will get here quickly.  I hope you have many happy hours sharing stories, and remembering your brother.

Aren't those men amazing?  They just keep going...and going... Makes me weak at the knees just thinking about the height and only a tether around his legs.  Yikes!  Keeps them  young, I guess.

Go Dad! I think it's wonderful he is in such good physical shape.

It sounds like a good summer for you. It will be bittersweet to have a reunion under such circumstances.

Our lake, well not the small one where I walk the dogs, but the reservoir has been host to numerous planes and helicopters that collect water to drop on the forest fires. Amazing to watch. And very important to every living thing.

Wow - your father must be in great shape!  I hope I'm as fit as that when I'm in my mid-80s.  Our lake gets to about that temperature too, and I love lying on my air mattress and just soaking up the sun. Need to store all that vitamin D before winter when the sun seems to disappear for months on end.
