I must say that yesterday - Wednesday - was quite the eventful day. I did a demonstration at the Besser Museum in Alpena, Michigan of making pine needle baskets using 1/4 of a walnut shell! It was quite entertaining and a wonderful experience. Of course the way it started off was NOT so nice as a woman almost ruined my whole "good" experience by crushing a basket BEFORE the foundation layer was secured. But live and learn and no harm, no foul, just a lot of reworking and redoing, but all came out well and good.
I met a lot of very nice people and must congratulate, as well as recognize, Amanda who works at the Besser Museum for her wonderful way of dealing with people. The more people that stopped and wanted to chat, the more chair she produced! The number of people who stopped and stated that they had read about "me" in the newspaper, on the Chamber of Commerce Website or had heard "my name" on the radio regarding the pine needle basket demonstration was amazing! I was floored to say the least and when a reporter appeared from our local paper, I was "almost" speechless. It was a flattering and humbling experience to see my picture in Thursday mornings paper to say the least.
I would say the grand opening of the Drake's Nest Studios will be in approximately 2 weeks and NOT the 2-3 weeks originally forcast. Keep your eyes open for an exact date to be named and be one of the first to leave your comment on my website or blog, along with your email so I can contact you, and you will win a nice prize as a thank you from me.
Have a great day!!
