Thought I'd show you few more pictures of the Falls and Whitefish Point Lighthouse

A view from the banks

View from trail to upper Falls. Even from this distance you could feel the refreshing spray of the falls. There is a 6 1/2 hour tour you can take that starts at the Toonerville Trolley, a narrow guage train ride that takes you all through the forest and then you board a paddleboat for a 21 mile trip along the river to the upper Falls. That tour runs only once a day and is well worth it.

Whitefish Point Lighthouse is still in operation. This lighthouse was made famous in the song about the Edmund Fitzgerald which sank just 15 miles from the shores of Whitefish Bay.

Going up! This tall tube houses the mass of stairs that leads to the top of the lighthouse. The octagon shape is the base of the narrow walk that encircles the top of the tower.

There are campgrounds at the Falls, hotels in fairly close proximity or you could do a day trip. It's all there waiting. At the lighthouse, you can stay in the Coast Guard Quarters turned hotel. I don't think they have a restaurant, however. While up in the tower we had an Eagle fly by, unfortunately I did not have my zoom lens with me so I was unable to get a good shot.

So glad that you enjoyed the pictures and thank you for a lovely compliment. If you are interested in finding out more information about the Falls, you can check out their website: www.trainandboattours.com, exploringthenorth.com/toonerville/trolley.html or send an email to soojunction@lighhouse.net and I'm sure that they will be glad to send you information. The phone number is toll free 1-888-77TRAIN. If you are interested in Whitefish Point Lighthouse, check out www.ShipwreckMuseum.com or call toll free 1-800-635-1742. No affiliation with either entity, just a very happy visitor.

amazing pictures.  Wish I lived closer and could visit there myself.  Do you camp there or just do a day trip?
