Quilt With Us

So I finally started working on some projects that have been sitting around.

The other half has a daughter and two grand kids that live in what use to be my sewing room. His daughter really should have taken parenting classes.  Sometimes I feel like I spend more time watching her kids than she does. These two little girls can get into things faster than a bolt of lightning and then they fight between themselves which brings on the screaming match. This doesn't bother the mother of these kids but endless screaming gets on my nerves.  She is now expecting a third one in December, oh joy. With all that going on all day, everyday it does make it difficult at best to work on any projects.  I got home from work the other day and she was packing up to go visit her BF and the father of two of these kids.  I sat at the table for a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet. How long would this last?  I had no idea. The other half came home from work and we had dinner, no daughter or GK's.  Hummm could it last?  He had to work the next day and still no sign of kids. I didn't have to babysit my grandson Aiden yesterday, So I decided to work on Aidens quilt and a quilt top that I had started but set aside because I just couldn't concentrate with the kids in the house.

This morning I started cutting more pieces to the quilt and broke my blade on the rotary cutter.  I of course don't have any spares and the stores won't open for another hour or so. With nothing better to do until the stores open I have been sitting here watching the dogs, all five of them playing and running around.  It doesn't seem like much but for the most part they spend their time in the bedroom hiding.

I am off to the store for rotary blades and hope to get enough pieces to the quilt cut and sewed together to make it look like I put a dent in this top, and hopefully get Aidens baby quilt finished. :@)

Nothing like the sweet sound of silence (when you want it)!

Day 4 of no kids and looking good.  Got a lot of curved piecing done in the last two days. Tonight  cutting the corner pieces.  I do miss Aiden though.  I may have to go babynap that little guy for a few days.

Glad you had some just you time. Hoping the situation changes and she and the kids move out soon.

Hope you enjoyed every minute of that quiet time, a piece of heaven that you certainly have earned.

Glad you had some quiet time and could do what you wanted to do. Make the most of these times because you deserve it.

Kathy, you have my utmost sympathy.  Our DD & her 2 boys just moved out after living with us for a couple of months.  They are 12 & 14 and fight constantly too.  My DH told me that boys who are close in age do that, but it still is enough to drive a person batty.  Your step-daughter doesn't sound very responsible.

As complexed as your patterns are...I can understand needing quiet when you are working on them. Everyone deserves to have peace and quiet in their own home! Grab it when you can! lol
