Yes, the King quilt for our bed made from the CT Birtchtree Lane collection is at last pieced and ready to quilt! It has taken way longer to get to this point than originally anticipated; but IMHO the results are worth it. To be fair, I was away from home more than at home last year with taking care of our daughter and her boys after her knee surgeries and then visiting a new granddaughter. Then of course there were all the "other" projects that needed my undivided attention, then came the holidays...After all, there is only so much time in a day, right? :-)
I put the top on the bed to get a picture. It is so big, that is about the only place available to get a good idea of what it really looks like. Now, all I need to do is decide on backing fabric and get it quilted. With the 'drop' on both ends, it is long enough to go over pillows on the bed if I want it that way. I do have matching pillow shams and throw pillow in the works to go with it. When it's all quilted and the shams and pillows are completed, I will post another photo. In the mean time, here is how it came out and a close up of the center top section. BTW, the wood on the bed is really dark and not red-brown as it appears in this photo.

Comment by B J Elder/WA on January 15, 2012 at 9:53am What a project Kathy. It is looking wonderful! Those King sized quilts are quite an undertaking. It looks wonderful, and very cheerful, on your bed.
Comment by Kathy Biggs/MO on January 15, 2012 at 8:18am Shannon, ON - Although that is a very pretty pattern, no it is not the one I used. The only place I have seen that pattern was in The Quilter Magazine and on their online version.

scroll down to sausalito style.
I just love your quilt!
Comment by Kathy Biggs/MO on January 14, 2012 at 6:28pm Shannon, ON - No, it was not a kit. My bad, I intended to put the pattern info in the original post and forgot. It is based on a pattern called Sausalito by Nancy Mahoney that was featured in the June/July 2011 The Quilter Magazine. The center part of the quilt out to but not including the brown border is that pattern. I added the extra border, the drop and additional 2 borders to make it fit the bed. The original quilt pattern finishes at 59" x 68"....definitely not a King pattern. lol But, I really liked the pattern and thought it was perfect for this fabric line. The photos do not do it justice. And yes, Pam, I do intend to quilt it myself. Yeah, I know...I'm certifiably nuts. lol
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. :-)
