Quilt With Us

The Sewing Expo is at the Washington State Fairgrounds through sunday and I finally got to go!

For  years I've always worked the weekends and was too tired to go to the shows after work.  My boss changed the schedule some time ago so that I could baby sit Aiden on Fridays when my daughter needed me to.  He tried to get me to work today but the joke was on him.  It was my day to babysit and he knew that he couldn't force the issue.  So it was Aidens big day out.

March 1 is his first birthday and sense I got him today, we started out with a trip to the local restaurant and introduced him to the world of Belgin waffles.  This was followed by some running around that I had to get done and then picked up great granny and off we went to the fairgrounds.  I knew it was a big event, I've had customers coming in from Canada asking how to get to the fairgrounds every year.  I didn't expect it to be packed.

It was really packed.  I didn't get to see as much as I wanted to though.  Great Granny pushed the stroller while I ducked into a couple of booths to look at things.  Aiden doesn't like having me get too far away from him when we are out so my time was limited.  That and my mom doesn't get around so well either.  I wish I could go back again but tomorrow is Aidens birthday party.

I did see alot so sewing machine demos, I tried a longarm or two actually four of them.  I need a new car accident to get one of those machines. (Just kidding) The other half would kill me if I called him and uttered those words: NOT MY FAULT again.

I saw a lot of embroidery designs I would love to have had but things were a bit on the expensive side for me.

Note to self: next year take more money and leave GG and Aiden at home.

Kathy, I was there both Friday and Saturday.  I'm sorry I missed you!  It would have been nice to finally meet  you!  I agree, it was very, very busy Friday but Saturday not too bad!  Maybe next year.

I think it was over 15 years ago that last I was at that Expo. It is quite amazing!  Glad you got to take even some of it in.

Happy Birthday Aiden!

Ah, Happy Birthday to Aiden. Has it really been a year already?? How does that happen.

Congratulations on making it to the show. I think I took DH to one small show. That's it. That's all he gets. I can stand and stare a quilt for a long time, wander off, stare some more. Make notes. YOU know the drill. DH trotted through like he'd win a prize if he finished faster than anyone else. It's not a guy thing it's a non-quilter issue.

I can appreciate what your saying. Taking kids of any age and someone who can't keep up with you are causes to go alone the next time.  I took Bud with me a few years ago to a small quilt show that was held here and I ended up leaving sooner then I wanted to.  That was his first and last trip to a quilt show.  The next time he said " I'll go with you"  My response "was no you won't".  LOL
