Quilt With Us

Yesterday in Albuquerque we didn’t have any WiFi at our RV site so I wasn’t able to post. Today we drove to Flagstaff AZ. We have still lucked out with no minor disasters AND our tape job on the roof is still holding out. Hip-hip-hurah Yesterday we parked next to a young couple, the wife is a Jockey. Several days ago she was thrown from her horse, right out of the gate, got tangled in the reins and thrown under the horse. She has 2 broken legs one in 4 places, broken collar bone and contusions everywhere. She had just been released from the hospital when we arrived, after a 3 day stay. I don’t know her but we could sure add her to our prayers chain.

I took a few more photos of the countryside and one of the Laguna Pueblo Mission. History lesson for today. The Laguna mission was built in 1699. In 1680 the Laguna tribes were the first to successfully revolt against the Spanish. They expelled them for 12 years. Present day Laguna Indians value intellectual activity and education . The mining of Uranium as contributed to present day educations funds and scholarship programs. Today there are many well educated Laguna people and they have one of the largest U.S. contact companies in Iraq. A Laguna Pueblo Indian , Cliff Fragua carved a statue that sits in the Statuary Hall in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington DC. It’s a statue of Po’pay (Pope’) the leader of the revolt. The first statue carved by a native American Indian in the Statuary Hall.

This church was built into the side of the hill and just east of Flagstaff on Hwy 40.

My first teepee of the trip. There are two here at the Flagstaff KOA that you and rent out and live in. I'd do it for 1 night and then it would be back into the motorhome. I like my bathroom and kitchen. Small is rough enough for me. Without would be ......well, lets not go there. Just know that I don't do camping in tents and on the ground. I don't mind the bugs and snakes....it's the dirt and crummy hair I can't handle. Well, we'll be off again tomorrow and headed to Las Vegas I think. We may shoot for beyond that but only the driver knows for sure. Until tomorrow.....................PS: sorry for phuzzy photos....going 70 MPH and phog (fog) doesnt make it easy even if I was good at it, which I know I'm not.

Thanks for the day of travelling Debbie. That was wonderful and we can take a little fuzzy as long as we can see a little of where we are going and where we have been. Thanks again for taking us along. Have a safe trip. Definitely will add the jockey to our prayer list.

Wonderful history class, Debbie. I so enjoy the things we see on our "vacation" with you and hubby. I didn't know about those Indians or the revolt (at least I don't remember). Were the little animals in the first picture deer? I have never seen that kind woth the black face. Thanks for sharing..........

Flagstaff is a neat town. As far as teepees go, when I was in early years of church camp (grade school) I went to a camp that had teepees and at that time we had fires in the center to keep us warm. We kept our milk, etc. in metal garbage cans in the ice cold river by the camp. I sooooo loved it. Oh yes, even the outhouses. Of course, now I prefer my bed up off the ground and nice, flushing toilets.
