Quilt With Us

The big news this week is that Tuesday evening there was a small fire at school (started by a dishwasher) and school was cancelled for the rest of the week. An air quality test is being run again on Sunday to see if we can be allowed back in the school or not. But I was there last night and I can't imagine it will smell much better by Monday.

The birds are OK and home with me. I left the small furred critters there in my room, which seems to be not so bad since I don't have carpet and we're supposedly on a different vent system.

Haven't been doing much sewing with machine lately, but I've been doing lots of yo-yo's and hand work, starting a huge applique project, and just loving handwork because I can do it anywhere! YAY!

Last night and tonight I am helping my students with a fundraiser, working as volunteers at a Haunted Trail. I love to hide int he spider webs and reach out to grab people in the dark. Tonight is our last night - should be fun. Happy Haunting everyone! :-D

Sorry about the fire - glad it was not an arson one. It's easier to deal with these malfunction ones. It sure gave you some nice time to do some projects! Sounds like you have a lot of fun things going on.

Gayle - I don't usually try to scare the kids - they are scared enough just walking through the spider web tunnels. But I really try to scare those people who say that nothing on the trail has scared them yet...LOL. Last night a lady said she was going to have nightmares just thinking of hands reaching out for her in the dark. The organizer in her pep talk last night, said the goal was to make people pee their pants....LOL. Plus, people always have the option of going through and can just see the scary scenes without people jumping out to scare them. When a parent with a young kid came through last night, the girl was crying so I told them what to say so no one would jump out to scare them the rest of the way.

Good thing the school didn't burn...with lack of funding that would have been disastrous! Your fund raiser sounds fun...I cut a hole in the bottom of the bowl of candy and hold it, so when they pick out the candy I grab their hand, only on older kids! lol and adults!

I'm glad you are having some days off from school at such a beautiful time of year--and that school officials were wise enough to cancel classes instead of putting teachers and students in that bad air. The Haunted Trail sounds like lots of fun. I'm doing a Grandmother's Flower Garden b/c it is so portable and so pretty and cheerful--started it when my Dad broke his him and I knew I would need to keep something ready to go all the time. It's like eating peanuts though.

Oh thank goodness that the animals were all okay and noone else was hurt. Your handwork project is sounding exciting. Don't forget to show us a pic when you get it done. I think I would enjoy hiding in the spider webs and grabbing those kids to scare them.
