Quilt With Us

I posted that I was gifting our family doctor of 40 years with a quilt. We received such a heartfelt thank you letter from him. He is in his early 70s...like all of us, you start out with such great enthusiasm in your first career. Soon to discover that managing a family practice is hard enough, but the staff issues make it more difficult. He finally has the best staff he has ever had and finds that he has fallen back in love with medicine...

I see that in my hubby's career...once you get past a certain point it reverts back to the beginning when everything was exciting. Guess the pressures of life have settled down for us...knock on wood!!!

Our doctor's office manager called yesterday to tell me how he showed everyone the quilt and was so happy to receive the gift. My point is...it is important to acknowledge those who have helped you along the way. We all want to be appreciated!

Amen to that, Pam.

You are one of the most appreciative people I can think of.  I often think I will do something special to show my appreciation, but fall short on the follow through.  You make your corner of the world a little more special with the things you do.

It is so encouraging when our efforts are loved and appreciated.  I love the quilt!  Well done, Pam, from the creating to the giving.

I guess I didn't post a picture...Irene, I laughed so hard when I read your post. You and I would've been hell on wheels if we grew up together!!! The quilt minus the chicken runner!

That was a nice gesture on your part Pam. You made him happy and it will keep him warm. Did you take a picture of the quilt? What pattern did you choose?

I can just picture the look on his face when he saw it for the 1st time.  I fully agree that we need to acknowledge people who help us.  My primary care dr has a sister who is a quilter so he always asks me what I'm working on.  He received a full ride scholarship to Harvard & the ladies in his church gave him a quilt before he left for Boston.  He said that quilt helped him get through many lonely days while he was getting used to going from living in a small town in MN & living in Boston.
