Quilt With Us

Trying to fool me twice, I wish I could call the police. Many of you know that I have the yorkie puppy Pearl. She is now 4 months old and very much the trouble maker. Last week she was chasing our retriever Zeus and I think she bit him in the family jewels. He went after like I've never scene. Both of them are fine but I have had enough. I put an ad in the newspaper to sell her. I got a TTY call giving me an email address for someone wanting to buy her. Ok I send the email and I got a long message wanting to buy Pearl with instructions on how the transaction would work. The "buyer" was in Vermont, I'm in Washington. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/ If anyone is interested in seeing the information just go to this site and check out the scam warning. I wasn't comfortable sending the dog to someone I hadn't met and turned down the offer TWICE. They sent a second with a different name and different email. I guess Pearl has her home here and I will get use to living in a house where the dogs out number the people. So to everyone it's not just the buyer beware, sellers beware as well.

I sell puppies for my sister sometimes and the last two times I have gotten those same calls. The operator states it is a special call for a hearing impaired situation and I learned to just say I am not interested. I thought I was the only one that drew that type of stuff. It is sad you have to be so careful these days. I would jump at that puppy in an instant but my son seems to have the monopoly on bringing home too many dogs. We are up to six and our new stray kitty my DH insisted on keeping.

You could ask your local Vet's office for the names of reputable dealers in the area. There was an article in our paper about these pet adoption scams warning people of their notoriety. I hope you get to keep Pearl - she might be ready for a training session on how to behave as a good dog.
I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt Zeus. My dog plays with a neighbor's dog and they always seem to get at each other's 'protective' parts, but watching them play it wasn't meant to be vicious bites since neither dog is aggressive.

poor Zeus, I am sure the pup meant no harm, is just like a typical dog-child. I think you should keep the pup, maybe the scam stuff was a way of saying you need to keep the little puppy, maybe teach it to behave and all will be a-okay...Pearl is a sweet name for her.. someday she may be the pearl of you eye and hopefully to Zeus too...

Kathy, I would love to take her but cross border, cross country as Ontario is almost as far away as Vermont, except this is not a scam eh?? I would like a second dog. Snickers needs a playmate but he seems to be very nervous of larger dogs. Could be that the chocolate lab from next door would like to eat him even through the fence. Unreal! I really think that you are the one who needs her and she needs you. Hopefully your big dog will survive. Take care! Hugs to you in your frustration.

Give her time. She won't be a puppy forever. I'm so glad you caught the scam. It would bother you forever if you didn't know her true fate. Who knows what the "buyer" had in mind. She will love you forever for keeping her with you. :-)

Glad you were on the alert. It's so sad that there are those who are out to take advantage of people.

I'm so glad you didn't send Pearl to those people, I've heard about scams like that. Try to find a Yorkie rescue group, just make sure it's legitimate. God luck.

Kathy, I hope maybe you will still get a response from a local person who would be a responsible buyer. Maybe putting an add w/various vets around the area would help. I have a friend who loves Yorkies, but I just find them to be too high strung. I believe the one she has now is a result of a puppy mill because he is just not right in the head. He even barks at the washing machine and nips at everyone who walks by.
