This is my latest project! I was looking in Nancy Halvorsen's Sew Necessary and saw this cute bird pin cushion. I used a few pieces from Canning Days.
It was very easy and wouldn't take very long to make if it didn't take me forever to decide on which button to use on the wings. I loved the fact I had a button the same color as one of the leaves in the wing fabric but then I found a cute white and clear button that looked great, too. So I put a different one on either side. So depending on how I feel for the day I can turn it to one side or the other.
Then I thought the pattern would be great a little smaller so I reduced it to 80%. I think that is my favorite size. She suggests you fill the bottom with nut shells so the bird will stand up right. But I didn't have any so I looked around and I found some of those glass decorative flat marbles and they slipped in very easily. I figure you should use what you have.
