Quilt With Us

I've been off work since Wednesday. With all the "going" we've been doing this summer (vacation, extended family stuff, and swim meets) I begged to just stay home for this holiday. For some strange reason, I thought having 6 days off work I'd have time to sew. Have I spent any time sewing? Not much. Wednesday was spent finishing up stuff that I didn't get done before I left work, then a meeting about back to school events (already!!!!) then errands (the stuff I can't do during lunch when I'm working). Yesterday was a shopping day. DD and I both needed new clothes, she's outgrown everything (unfortunately I have too and not in a good way). Today was clean up DD's bedroom. We havent' seen the floor in her closet since I dont' know when. I think the stuffed animals have been cloning themselves, how else did she get so many? I found a sea shell in the floor of the closet while I was vacuuming. DD saw it and said "I told you it was getting bad, see the dirt has fossilized!".

I did start cleaning up my sewing room while DD was at swim practice. I badly need to reorganize things, I'm running out of room. Hopefully by the end of this afternoon, I'll get it lined back out so that maybe I can sew tomorrow. Oh wait, DH wants to go buy a grill and DD wants to go to the "mad scientist" 4th of July picnic and party tomorrow(thats worthy of a blog all it's own). Well I guess there is always Sunday right?

You need me time. I used to think that when I retired from the miltary and stay home with my kids I would have time to do everthing I wanted, and the I foolishly thought the same when my youngest got his own car that it would free me up but somehow the family always has something that only mom can take care of. I schedule me, time every thrusday is mine. We all need me time and to make it a priority.

Kate, you just have to add a few more hours to your day and I know what that is all about. Anyway hope you have a wonderful 4th of July weekend.

POOR Kate! I do remember those days when there was no way there was enough hours to get it all done. You know the funny part about all that time was that I didn't drive. Now that I do that seems to be all I get accomplished.
