Quilt With Us

Today is my daughter's birthday so she gets a home cooked meal complete with a homemade cake.  I can't tell how old she is because that will tell you how old I am..Being from the South (Kentucky), a lady never tells her age ;)

My mother passed in November of 2010 and our big project has been cleaning her house.  55 years in one house and doubt that she or Dad every through anything away.  But she was a quilter, a knitter and a seamstress, yep, lots of old fabric, old yarn and oodles of zippers.  Some we kept, most we shared with other friends and family.    Long story short, we found a partial pattern for a quilt she made several years ago.

I am hoping that someone out in "quilting land" has a copy they will share.  It is an applique pattern called "Cats 'n Hats".  It was published in issues of Quilt World magazine (and no they don't have a copy) starting in June of 1977 and ending the October issue.  I would appreciate any help you can give me and I would be delighted to return the favor with money, fabric or something you are looking for or all of the above.

Have a wonderful day...Rebecca Grant

Sorry for your loss.  I just got off that "train"  It took my sibs & I two years to finish up our mom's house and get it sold after 55 years, as well.  None of us live near the old home anymore, so it was quite a task. I hope you are making progress better than we did.  Just being finished is a total relief.

Happy birthday to your daughter.

Wow what a story, sorry for your loss and happy birthday to your little girl.  I hope you find the rest of the pattern you are looking for.

Rebecca, I'm sorry for your loss, mom's are so awesome (and not just cuz I am one!). Tell your daughter Happy Birthday. And good luck on your search for the pattern.

I also did a bit of surfing, and found this site that has the actual magazine, perhaps they have the other issues as well?   Good luck

You also may wish to check your local library or quilt shop.  Sometimes they may have the vintage magazines.

I'm sure you had lots of tears and laughs going through all of your parent "treasures". Can't help with the pattern, sure hope you can locate one.

How great that you found a project of your mother's.  I wish you all the best in locating the remaining patterns.  I was given some older quilting magazines after my great aunt's passing, but I think they start in the 80's.  I'll check them, though just to be sure.

Tell your sweet girl "Happy Birthday" from your quilting friends!

Blessings to you from snowy, windy Nebraska!

Rebecca, If no one on QWU has the pattern, you might check out "vintage quilting patterns" on Ebay.
