Quilt With Us

There will be an exhibit at the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, from April 10th through June 14th titled "Grace Snyder: A Life in Extraordinary Stitches." For more information, you can visit this link:

http://www.quiltstudy.org/discover/exhibitions/upcoming.html

It will feature many of her show quilts, including the Flower Basket quilt and the Mosaic quilt. Just something worth seeing if you are in the area or want to plan a quilt trip.

Let me know if you have any questions about Grace. She was my sister-in-law's great grandmother and a truly amazing, gifted quilter. All of her quilts were hand pieced and hand quilted. She is most noted for piecing bedsized quilts with impossibly tiny pieces.

I too wish I lived closer to be able to go to this exhibit. I have the book of "No Time on My Hands" that her daughter wrote for Grace that I inherited from my mother. It is a very, very old copy. May even be a first edition. She is a true inspiration. I used to live in Lincoln, NE as a child and wish that I could go back to visit! I currently live in southern Illinois.

I will be in Nebr. sometime in late May to attend my 60th high school reunion. I plan on spending at least part of a day touring that place. I have read the book No Time on my Hands, and admire her ability to quilt, raise a family, and simply enjoy life.

I recently read No time on my hands , the book about her life.It was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the resourcefulness of our country's homesteaders.

I so much wish I was close by to see her exhibit. She sounds like such an amazing person. The one quilt I was able to pull up (Flower Basket) is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this information. Have a great day Lori
