Quilt With Us

Happy Memorial Day and let Summer Begin!

This has been the best Memorial week we can remember in decades. We have all our flowers in and chores done at the lake! Now, if you hear a blood curdling scream at 2pm EST, it's the first swim of the season. Somebody said the water was 71, my guess... that is the top inch! We have 5-10 women who meet at 2pm everyday to exercise and solve world problems. lol We will work on the oil spill today. Can't do any worse( no one has contacted my father about his idea:( ...Thanks to all of our veterans, military now serving, and their families. A job well done!

Pam, I was just thinking today about your Dad and his solution and wondered why someone hasn't contacted him yet. It this all a political thing or what??? Does no one want to get this thing stopped? Maybe you should contact the Govenor of Louisianna.

It's a bit chilly to swim here - well, at least for the faint hearted like yours truly. We went in to the Memorial Day services at the cemetery. My dad is a Korean War veteran and is part of the Honor Guard. They got along pretty well with their old guns today. One year Dad levered the spent shell out of the gun and the entire lever assembly FELL OUT of the gun. (!) He never missed a beat, and probably no one but family who were watching him specifically noticed, but though he continued on with the motions to the commands, his gun never fired the remaining bullets. We laughed over that one for years. They have tried and tried to get new guns, but there must be a hangup some where. There were no mishaps this year, but the veterans are getting older and there are fewer of them each year. I did noticed for the first time that there must be some new PC terms. I believe as they read the names of the honored dead this year that the terms Korean "Era" and Vietnam "Era" were used. That's sure not what my dad calls them.

I think you would hear my scream all the way across the USA if I were to swim in that water right now. BRRRRRRRRRRRR! Sounds like you have a great group of women to exercise, etc. with. I can't understand why they have not talked to your dad... they certainly are getting nowhere fast with what they have attempted so far.
